Our Own Samples Shine Bright
In a groundbreaking development, our company’s own samples of Starlite have passed rigorous tests—reaffirming the material’s extraordinary properties. These tests mirror the characteristics that made Starlite famous, including the remarkable “self-healing” effect observed by aerospace giant Boeing. For us, this achievement marks a significant milestone, especially considering that we’ve updated and expanded upon the original formula.
In 2015 we tested several legacy and or own samples at the Georgia Tech Institute of Technology as protection against high-energy lasers. Among our experiments, one stood out: a mere 1mm protective coating applied to a 1/8” MDF substrate. This seemingly delicate layer pushed the boundaries of what a thin coating could achieve.
Testing at Extraordinary Power Densities
The table attached shows the results of one of our Starlite coatings, tested under extraordinary power densities (Irradiance) far beyond what Boeing typically encounters. Furthermore, an 18-year-old Boeing legacy extruded sample emerged unscathed, suggesting that the material does not degrade over time.
